Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome cases are increasing in the majority of females aged 23-35. The problem also affects any female in the reproductive age. PCOS occurs due to hormonal imbalance in the body. Where the woman’s body starts producing more male hormones like androgen, cysts are formed in the ovaries. These cysts are round or oval shaped hollows that are filled with a liquid. These cysts may give no signs or symptoms at an early stage, but bring many complications in a woman if not detected at an early stage and effectively treated.
It is quite absurd that the actual cause of PCOS is not known, but scientists and experts currently inform that it is a genetically caused disease or a hormonal imbalance in the body. Excessive production of androgens causes the formation of cysts in the ovaries which prevents the woman from ovulating.
The Indicators of PCOS
These occur differently in women. Just as informed earlier, there may be no symptoms of PCOS until they have fully grown throughout the ovaries that is why it is important for a woman to have frequent checkups and monitor her body’s reactions. Any factor given below may happen in one woman while in the other it may not happen, but consider them as the symptoms of PCOS
- Pelvic pain
- Irregular or no menstrual periods
- Acne
- Infertility
- Excessive growth of hair on the body, for example, in the chest, face, and on the legs
- Weight gain and thinning of hair
- Breast cancer
- High cholesterol, the doctor always advises that a woman cuts down her weight in case obese
- Depression and anxiety which is normally due to hormonal imbalances
- Hypertension
- Diabetes
- Infertility, this is the biggest common end result of PCOS if not treated in time.
